6. Si vous avez choisi la fac, pourquoi? Quelle est la raison?
Analysis
This survey gave another in-depth insight about the attitudes towards Higher education and their educational experience.
Amazingly, 100% of the 82 participants didn’t consider their experience to be negative. Only 18% of people found it neutral which leaves with the other 82% to find their experience either positive or very positive. This suggests that the students are happy with the way their educational system is run. However, not all of them considered it one of their top priorities. 60% decided that education is their top priority, family was the second most popular priority. The amount of students planning to continue their education through college and University was also significantly lower with only 45% choosing either option. Only 64% believed that it was beneficial for personal growth.
The next set of questions aim to determine whether the participants have a growth or fixed mindset. The answers to each questions prod to each mindset. In question 8, remarkably 49% of participants chose the answer that indicates to the fixed mindset compared to the 41% that indicates the growth mindset. This implies that many students in France would rather accept defeat and find an easier subject than trying again to get the grade that they want. However, in the next question, 60% chose the answers that indicate the growth mindset compared to the 41% of the participants who indicated towards a fixed one.
Overall, the answers aren't clear-cut and therefore, we cannot conclude that the general population has either a growth or fixed mindset. However, it can be concluded that French students are happy with their education system overall but only 60% regard it as a priority in their life. A lot of the participants recognise that there is more to life than school and that there are many other paths available to them after high school.
